The Process of Filtered Sound Training
1. Doctor's Clearance
Ear, Nose, Throat doctors`s evaluation is needed at least one week prior to the sound training. The training can only be started when healthy.
2. Auditory Exam: Audiogram
Before starting Filtered Sound Training an exam is needed that measures the auditory threshold on both ears on minimum 10 frequencies. During this exam hearing is examined through air-conduction and bone-conduction. This exam done in the office of an audiologist at no extra cost to you.
3. Anamnesis
Consultation in person with an FST practitioner, while an anamnesis is obtained.
4. Settings & First Training
Software settings are personalized based on diagnosis, anamnesis, and the audiogram. In every case the first 30 minute training is done in the presence of the practitioner.
5. Home Training
The next 19 listening sessions are done at home. The tablet, sound equipment, and specialized earphones are handed out. During the training the daily contact with the practitioner is necessary, as well as taking daily notes of the changes that occur.
6. Completion of FST
The benefits of the training are seen 4-5 month after the listening sessions, therefore during the 4-5 months (or longer) following FST headphone use and loud environments need to be avoided.
